THE PURPOSE

21st Century Wood Badge is the advanced training program for all BSA leaders Wood Badge is designed to train adult volunteer leaders, as well as professional scouters, in using the latest leadership skills. Techniques and skills learned will help you to be a better leader. Starting in 1919, and continuing today, Wood Badge is the preeminent leadership training offered by the Boy Scouts of America.

WHO MAY ATTEND WOOD BADGE:

To attend the course, Scouters must:

1. Be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. There is no mini-mum tenure requirement.

2. Have not previously attended a Wood Badge for the 21st Century course.

3. Have completed Youth Protection Training and Position Specific Training. (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is required for Scoutmasters and As-sistant Scoutmasters. All other par-ticipants are encouraged, but not re-quired, to complete an Outdoor Leader Skills course before attending Wood Badge.)

4. Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment. Successful com-pletion of the BSA physical (Parts A, B & C) is required for all participants.
