Scoutmaster Position Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training (Boy Scouts) in Camp Forest at the Cheraw State Park during the last weekend of July (July 29th – 31st). The cost will be $20.00 per person which includes refreshments, the food for the cooking training, and the Cheraw State Park facility and camp fee. Other meals will be the responsibility of the participants. At least ten participants are needed to cover expenses; therefore, registration must be submitted before Wednesday, July 27, in order to guarantee the site.

To be fully trained, every scoutmaster or assistant scoutmaster must have completed both Scoutmaster Position Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training. On Friday night, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Scoutmaster Position Specific training will be offered. It will run from 6:00 p.m. until approximately 11:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 30, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end at approximately 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 31. (Outdoor Leader requires an overnight camping experience.) Several veteran scouters from the Pee Dee District will lead the various skills sessions, and the training will culminate in an Interfaith Worship Service on Sunday morning.

Access to the Camp Forest will be available beginning Friday afternoon, July 29, at 4:00 p.m. Please indicate the night(s), if any, you plan to camp.
Please encourage all leaders in your units to participate. Once offered in early fall, this particular training is being offered earlier in mid-summer this year at the request of cub packs who are looking forward to camping opportunities in the early Fall. I hope this earlier date will benefit you and your unit.
