Edit or Hide a Folder


These instructions assume that the Document Library main edit page is displayed.

To edit or hide a folder:

  1. Click the Manage Folders radio button in the Functions column on the Document Library main edit page.

  2. Click the OK button at the bottom of the page.
    The Manage Document Folders page will be displayed.  The page contains two lists - a Document List of all documents for the organization (left side of the page), and a Documents in this Folder list of all documents currently stored in the folder (right side of the page).  If there are no documents currently stored for the organization, both lists will be blank.

  3. If you want to view the contents of a current folder, choose the folder name from the Select a Folder drop-down list at the top of the page.
    The page will be refreshed and the contents of the selected folder will be displayed in the Documents in this Folder list.

  4. Click the Create and Edit Document Folders link at the top of the page.
    The Create and Modify Document Folders page with a list of current folders will be displayed.

  5. Click the Edit link next to the item you want to change.
    The page will be refreshed and the item you selected will be open for edit.

  6. If you want to change the name of the folder, click inside the Description text box and enter the new name.

  7. If you want to hide the folder from members who do not have Library Documents permissions, click the Hide checkbox to turn it on.
    A checkmark in the checkbox indicates that the folder will be hidden.  If this feature is turned on, the folder will not appear on the Document Library view list.  The folder status will be changed to Hidden.

  8. When you are through with the edit, click the Save button in the New Folder column for the item.
    The system will save the folder information and will redisplay the Create and Modify Document Folders page. 

  9. Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
    The Manage Document Folders page will be displayed.  The updated folder will be available from the Select a Folder drop-down list at the top of the page.  If the folder is in Hidden status, that will be indicated next to the folder name.

  10. If you are through managing folders, you can
    Click the Done button to return to the Document Library page,
    OR
    Click the Features List link at the top of the page to return to the Main Information page.
