Test Mode

Test Mode provides the ability to test how the registration process works with Events that allow people to register before making them "live" on the site.

In Doubleknot, the registration process has recently changed. Not only are members allowed to register for events but anyone else as well. These members and non-members can register on-line and pay on-line. For many event registrations, there is additional data that must be collected. This information can be collected as part of a form that is inherently linked to the registration process. Forms are either applied to each individual or all individuals that a part of a single registration.

Since Doubleknot is used by a wide audience of people, there is a lot of flexibility built into online registration through a number of options. These options are set when creating the event, creating the form and linking a form to an event. With all these options, it is difficult to anticipate how the registration will appear to those signing up as well as the creator of the event.

While in Test Mode, all information entered during the registration process is not saved. This includes members selected, non-members added, completion of form fields and any payment information entered. Or course any credit card information entered is not charged or saved. A warning appears on each registration page and the online and email confirmations that data is not saved because the event is in test mode.

With exception to the warning message, in Test Mode all registration pages appear as they would when live as well as the online and email confirmations generated.

A few notes about using this feature.

  1. Make certain the Test Mode option is selected as On.
  2. Complete the details of the event making certain Register By Date is complete since it triggers on line registration.
  3. Set the preferences about who can register
  4. Set the preferences for online payments
  5. If there is additional registration data that must be collected, create a form to collect this information. Forms are accessed via the Forms and Surveys link in the Feature List, then clicking the Forms menu and then selecting the Create New Form sub-menu.
  6. The form type should be set to match the kind of people you expect to register. Setting it to Anyone is the least restrictive.
  7. Set the form start and end dates to coincide with the period you expect people to register or simply leave blank.
  8. Add items to the Form via the Edit Form link
  9. Make certain the form is set to Active.
  10. If the form responses have additional costs associated with their selection over the cost of the registration enter those amounts.
  11. Link the form the event using the Link Forms to Event function accessed via the Manage Events and Send Invitation page under the Event in the Feature List.
  12. Go to the Calendar and find the date of the event, click on the Event to view it's details.
  13. Click the Register button and follow the registration process. (If the Test Mode warning message does not appear on each registration page go back and make certain the Event has been saved with the Test Mode option on. )
