Modify Categories

To modify a category:

  1. If the Features List sidebar menu is not available, click the Feature List link at the top of the current page.

  2. Click the Store Management link in the Administer sidebar menu.
    The Store Management main menu will be displayed.  This page allows you to select the type of maintenance that you want to perform for the store.

  3. Click the Manage Categories link in the Products section of the menu.
    The Manage Categories page will be displayed.

  4. Select the category that you want to update from the Category List.
    The category name should be highlighted.

  5. Click the Modify Category radio button.

  6. Click the OK button.
    The Modify Category page will be displayed.

  7. Enter the category description in the Description text box.
    This is the category name that will be displayed in your store when people browse the store by category, together with the category image.

  8. If this is a top-level category, select Root from the Parent Category drop-down list.

  9. If this is a subcategory, select the upper-level category from the Parent Category drop-down list.

  10. If you want to assign an image to the category, please refer to the Managing Images for Products and Categories instructions in this manual.

  11. When you are through adding the category information, click the Modify button at the bottom of the page.
    The system will update the new category and will display the Manage Categories page.  The new category will be displayed in the Category List.

  12. If you are through with the Manage Categories function, click the Done button at the bottom of the page to return to the Storefront Management menu, or click the Feature List link to return to the Main Information page.

Tip:
If a category does not appear in the Parent Category drop-down menu the reason is that either the category has products assigned to it or it is the lowest level of category that the system supports (i.e. it cannot have subcategories).
