Welcome to our 2015 Merit Badge Mania!

Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9:00am -  3:30pm

At Stanly Community College in Albemarle, NC

 

ALL scouts, scout leaders taking training, and those wanting lunch MUST REGISTER, as orders must be taken in advance.

DEADLINE:  Thursday February 12th!

Registration:
•    Merit Badge classes will be $15 per scout with meal and patch included.
•    SM/ASM Position Specific Training is free, but there will be a $5.00 charge for lunch.
•    Any other leaders who wish to purchase lunch the cost will also be $5.00.


Boy Scout Leader Position Specific Training For Adult Leaders:


This class provides training specifically for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. This course will introduce adult Boy Scout leaders to the basic information needed for operating a troop such as: Troop Organization, the Patrol Method, Leadership, Advancement, and Resources and Program Planning.

*This course is required to receive a “Trained” patch for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters.

*Please come dressed in your Field uniform and bring pen and paper.


Merit Badge Classes Offered for Scouts:
*Please come dressed in your Field/Class A uniform and bring pencil and paper. 
*Exception for those taking Personal Fitness Merit Badge; Class B uniform and tennis shoes.


Camping  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and teaches the principles of camping and planning for a campout.
*Please be aware this cannot be completed in this one class.

Chess  - This merit badge is all about the game of chess and teaches the principles of the game and its history.
*Please be aware this may not be able to be completed in this one class.


 

Citizenship in the Nation  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and explains what citizenship in the nation means and what it takes to be a good American citizen.

*Complete requirements 2 and. 3 prior to class.  We will discuss these in class and I will sign off on their completion.  If these are complete, then the registrant will complete the badge during the class.  



Communication  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and discusses the application of communication techniques, and how to observe and utilize them effectively.
*Please be aware this cannot be completed in this one class.

Crime Prevention & Fingerprinting  - These two merit badges teach how to keep a watch on crime in your local area and the identification technique of fingerprinting.

Electricity  - This merit badge discusses basic electrical principles and terminology, and gives an understanding of how to approach electricity safely in the home environment.

*Scout must take a couple of pictures showing checklist process along with turning in completed forms to prove to counselor this checklist was actually completed.

Engineering  - This is a merit badge teaches the principles of engineering and introduces the different area of engineering and job possibilities in those fields.
*Please be aware this may not be able to be completed in this one class.

First Aid  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and teaches the basic of First Aid and CPR.
*Prerequisite: Prepare a first aid kit for your home. Display and discuss its contents with your counselor. References from Boy Scout Handbook pgs. 288-327.

Personal First-Aid Kit:
•    Six adhesive bandages
•    Two 3-by-3-inch sterile gauze pads
•    One small roll of adhesive tape
•    One 3-by-6-inch piece of moleskin
•    One small bar of soap or travel-size bottle of hand sanitizer
•    One small tube of antibiotic ointment
•    One pair of scissors
•    One pair of non-latex disposable gloves
•    One CPR breathing barrier
•    Pencil and paper

Model Design and Building  - This is a merit badge discusses the process which goes into building models and how these techniques can be used in the job field with the many applications.
*Please be aware this may not be able to be completed in this one class.

Music & Bugling  - These two merit badges discuss the show the time-honored love of music that the boy scout program has incorporated for many years. 

*Scouts who wish to take the Music Merit Badge must be either in band or chorus, or taking private lessons for at least 6 months.

*Scouts who wish to take the Bugling Merit Badge must have played trumpet for at least 3 years in order to complete the bugle call requirements.

*Prerequisite for Bugling Merit Badge is to be Troop Bugler for 3 months or finish this requirement after taking the class. Must have signed document from Scoutmaster saying you have been the Troop Bugler for 3 months.

Personal Fitness  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and teaches the principles of good health and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, through exercise, diet, and social activity.
*Please be aware this cannot be completed in this one class.

Personal Management  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and teaches the principles of finance, the monetary system, and how to plan, manage, and prepare for one’s financial future.
*Please be aware this cannot be completed in this one class.

Sustainability  - This is an Eagle required merit badge and discusses the conservation and stewardship of our natural resources as it relates to sustainability of these resources for our future.
*Please be aware this cannot be completed in this one class.

Truck Transportation  - This is a merit badge, which explores the industry of truck transportation and all the many components and jobs contained within the industry.  This complex system we depend upon on a daily basis, to receive goods of gasoline, food, clothing, and so much more.
*Please be aware this may not be able to be completed in this one class.

Scoutmaster Specifics class is only $5 to cover lunch.  To register, add the name of the scoutmaster which will charge $15 and then when you select the class you will see a $10 discount.
