Venturing - The Next Step in Scouting

What is a Venture Crew? A Crew is made up of youth from 14 to 21 years of age with an interest in High Adventure. Crews can be an extension of a Boy Scout Troop by creating an all male patrol interested in high adventure, a traditional crew of co-ed Scouts, a ROTC unit, or a youth group looking to add outdoor skills and experiences. A crew can be anything its youth wish it to be. Some groups focus on one or two high adventure activities like Hiking or Rock Climbing, others are focused on earning Bronze, Gold and Silver Advancement Ranks. While the Silver Award is not as well known as the Eagle, it is still as rigorous multi-year process to obtain Venturing’s highest Rank. Venturer's spend many hours working on outdoor requirements, religious elements, community service, and conservation. We are looking for Adult Leaders and Youth who are interested in helping to plan and develop a strong Venturing program for our council, including council level events, training, and summer camp.
If you are interested in learning more about the Venture program or an Adult Leader willing to help advise our VOA, contact Nancy Tipton, Venturing Chairperson, [email protected] 704.309.0369. Youth interested in becoming part of the VOA planning and hosting next year's events please contact Jolene Fox VOA - President at [email protected]
