Fire at Camp Barnhardt

Tuesday September 18, 2012

CNCC Scouts and Scouters, tough news tonight. We lost our Trading Post Building to fire this evening. The Fire Marshall's are still working to determine the cause. Speculation is that the fire started around the afternoon storms that rolled through the area. We will begin working with the Fire Marshall's, the Properties Committee and our Insurance Company to determine a course of action from here. The good news is no one was in camp and more importantly no one was hurt!!

Update Thursday September 20, 2012

Well, this has been a difficult day to say the least. This is (Todd), we have spent the day reviewing the sight. It is a total loss. I pulled some walking staff chevrons from the sight if you would like one come by the office and speak to June. There are not alot so first come first serve and they are charred but the text stayed clear. We have an insurance adjuster coming this Friday to help us with some decisions. Its complicated because of the capital campaign but worse case there will at least eventually be a pavillion on this sight. Chad Drye had a great comment about the Belk family and we will pursue that. This weekend we will have our Camporee and have a makeshift trading post out of the Montgomery Lodge. We will solve the trading post issue temporarily before Summer Camp, Scouts Honor!! God Bless you all!!
